Routerequirements for AI access
Access to AI tools depends on your network, account, and each platform’s policies. YuanVPN provides cross-border network access, but does not provide third-party AI accounts, memberships, or API credits, and cannot override a tool’s regional or identity requirements. If a tool is unavailable, check its official guidance before deciding whether to change your network.
Region checks often depend on more than your browser’s display language. Your exit IP’s geolocation, account region, organization policies, and the availability of specific features can all affect access. Chat interfaces, developer consoles, and model APIs from the same provider may follow different rules. A homepage loading successfully does not mean every feature is available.
IP reputation and connection speed are separate issues. Switching exit locations repeatedly, changes in the sign-in environment, or an IP flagged by a platform can trigger additional checks. Using a consistent exit location within a region where you normally use the service can make issues easier to diagnose than trying different regions in quick succession. This does not guarantee that platform security checks or account protections will be avoided.
Streaming responses depend on a stable connection. Even after the page loads, generating a response may require a request to remain open; some features may use other connection methods. Packet loss, a device going to sleep, or a proxy process stopping can cause responses to stall, fail, or reconnect. Test whether your actual task completes instead of relying only on the connection indicator.
Tools androute requirements
Use this table to decide what to test, not as a list of tools guaranteed to work. Check each platform’s official information for current model, feature, and regional policies.
| Tool | Check first | Route requirements | Verify after connecting |
|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | Regional and account eligibility for the web app and API | Exit location matches requirements; streaming requests stay stable | Sign-in, continuous generation, and attachment requests |
| Claude | Account verification, model access, and regional policies | Consistent exit location during a session; complete upload path | Long responses, file uploads, and separate API requests |
| Gemini | Account, organization, and feature availability | Identity verification and model request paths are reachable | Sign-in redirects, model selection, and ongoing conversations |
| Copilot | Distinguish the chat product from GitHub Copilot | Consistent routing for auth callbacks, extension requests, and the editor | Web sessions, extension authorization, and code completion |
| Midjourney | Current access method, account, and subscription eligibility | Stable interactive connections and image delivery | Task submission, status updates, and image loading |
| Cursor | Editor account, model access, and process-level proxy settings | Complete request paths for the editor and extension host | Sign-in callbacks, chat, completion, and long-running tasks |
Chat tools: distinguish signing in from generating responses
Test ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini through the full workflow. Confirm that you can sign in, send a basic text prompt, and then use any required attachments or other features. If text works but uploads fail, check resource requests and file-transfer routing separately. If you see an account or region notice, check the platform’s policies first rather than repeatedly reinstalling the client.
Creative and coding tools: test the full request path
Submitting a Midjourney task and loading its image assets are separate checks. If the task status appears but the image does not, the issue may involve asset domains or local filtering rules. For Copilot, first identify the specific product: the chat interface and GitHub Copilot extension have different authorization, organization permissions, and request environments. For Cursor, check the editor process and extension host; browser access alone does not confirm that the editor is configured correctly.
Sign-in and account accesschecks
Before you start, check whether the third-party tool is available for your region and account type. Your YuanVPN account is separate from your AI tool accounts. YuanVPN requires no email address; create an account with a username and password. Third-party tools have their own requirements. A network subscription does not include an AI tool membership.
Keep the selected route consistent during sign-in where possible. Authentication may redirect to a separate account domain before returning to the original page or editor. If the callback fails, check whether the browser is blocking redirects, whether the client can open the callback, and whether the relevant identity domains are missing from your routing rules. Change only settings related to the issue; do not disable system protections wholesale.
If the sign-in page keeps refreshing, try a separate browser profile to rule out stale sessions, extension conflicts, and cache issues. Clearing site data signs you out, so make sure you can sign in again before doing so. If the platform asks for more account information or says an organization administrator has restricted access, follow its process. Changing routes cannot grant account permissions.
Differentrequirements for web and API
Web access
Check browser proxy settings, sign-in redirects, session status, and page resources. Once the page loads, send a request and confirm that the response completes.
API calls
Check the requesting process’s proxy, official endpoint, credential permissions, model access, and billing status. A web membership does not prove that you have API access.
Streaming responses
Check that responses are read continuously, review client timeouts, and check whether intermediate proxies buffer data. If a request is sent but nothing appears, the app may not be reading the response incrementally.
A browser may use the system proxy, while an SDK, CLI, or background process may not inherit the same settings. If an API call fails, check the connection in the environment where the program actually runs. Confirm that the SDK supports your proxy setup, and identify whether the failure occurs during DNS resolution, connection setup, the TLS handshake, or the model response.
Not every API error is a routing issue. Invalid credentials, insufficient quota, an incorrect model name, missing organization permissions, and rate limits should be handled according to the platform’s official error guidance. When sharing logs, include the error type, the stage where it occurred, and any necessary timestamps. Remove credentials, authorization headers, subscription links, and sensitive user input.
CLI, IDE and CIsetup
CLI: confirm the target process reads the variables
Some tools read HTTP_PROXY, HTTPS_PROXY, or ALL_PROXY, but support and variable precedence depend on the runtime and SDK. Follow the tool’s documentation and use the local proxy address shown by your client; do not copy a port from another device. Existing terminal sessions do not automatically pick up environment variable changes. After making a change, test it in a new session.
Also check whether NO_PROXY unintentionally excludes the target service. The proxy protocol used by the CLI must match the local listener. If the proxy handles remote DNS resolution, make sure the tool does not first perform an unintended DNS lookup locally. Do not try to fix network failures by skipping TLS certificate verification.
IDE: a local interface does not mean local execution
The editor’s main process, extension host, and integrated terminal may use different settings. After changing the proxy, reload the window or restart the process as required by the editor, then test sign-in, code completion, and chat separately. In remote development, an extension may run in a container, on a remote host, or in a subsystem. The desktop browser’s exit location does not tell you which route that environment uses.
Cursor and Copilot issues may also stem from extension state, enterprise policies, or model permissions. Identify whether the error is related to authentication, the request connection, or the model response before checking editor settings, organization controls, or the route. Do not proxy every local service indiscriminately to fix a single extension.
CI: check the runner’s network
CI requests originate from the runner; they do not automatically pass through the YuanVPN client on your personal computer. Configure the exit route according to the execution environment’s network policies, and confirm that the job process can reach the proxy. A loopback address inside a container points to the container itself, not the host. A remote runner cannot use the loopback proxy on your computer either.
Inject API credentials through CI secrets or a controlled credential system. Do not put them in the repository, build artifacts, or public logs. Before retrying a request that incurs charges, check whether the service has already accepted the task to avoid submitting it twice after a connection interruption.
Common issues andcauses
The page loads, but says my region isn’t supported. How can I tell why?
First check the official regional availability for the specific product and feature, then confirm that your actual exit location matches the selected route. If the exit location is as expected but the notice remains, check your account region, organization policies, and the platform’s decision. Changing routes cannot override a third-party service’s eligibility requirements.
A response stops partway through. Is the connection too slow?
Not necessarily. An interrupted persistent connection, device sleep, a stopped proxy, a client timeout, or a server issue can all cause a response to stall. Save the error message, test the same task on another route, and check whether other apps are also disconnecting. Do not repeatedly resubmit a billable task before confirming whether it completed.
What if my browser works but the CLI or IDE cannot connect?
First check whether the failing process is actually using a proxy and whether it runs on your computer, a remote host, or in a container. Then check the proxy protocol, environment variables, exclusion list, and DNS path. If you have received a platform permissions or billing error, troubleshoot your account and API settings instead of continuing to change routes.
Text works, but images, uploads, or model lists fail. What should I do?
Different features may use different resource domains or have separate permissions. Check whether your routing rules omit any requests, and review the failed domain and error type where your client allows it. Then confirm file requirements, feature eligibility, and model permissions. A single resource failure does not mean the entire service is unavailable.
What information should I send to support?
Include the tool, access method, operating system and client, selected route, when the issue occurred, the exact error, and steps to reproduce it. Note whether the website and other apps work, and remove credentials and private content from screenshots and logs. For network issues, submit a ticket through the user panel. For account eligibility or platform enforcement, contact the relevant tool’s support team.
Choose aroute and estimate usage
Start with a region that meets the tool’s official requirements, then compare IEPL dedicated routes, relay routes, and direct connections on your local network. Route types describe the network path; they do not imply AI platform approval or guarantee access. Compare using the same tool, task, and device, and test sign-in, continuous responses, and resource delivery. This is more useful than looking at the region name alone.
For everyday chats and code completion, check for consistent responses and repeated session reconnections. Uploading files, generating images, and downloading assets also require complete transfers and can use more data. Keep a regular route that has completed a real task, plus a backup route that meets the region requirements. When problems occur, change one factor at a time so you can identify the cause instead of changing the route, client, and account settings all at once.
YuanVPN supports Windows / macOS / iOS / Android / Linux, with no limit on simultaneous devices. Unlimited devices does not mean unlimited data; plan your usage within your subscription’s data allowance. Monthly plans: ¥9.9/month for 60GB, ¥18/month for 250GB, and ¥28/month for 500GB. Data resets monthly on your activation date. Mid-cycle upgrades are prorated for the remaining days.
